Hacking NetFlix : Yahoo! Recommends Movies
Hmmmm... between this and an earlier article from Geek News Central about some of what Yahoo is doing it looks like Yahoo really wants to push the portal model.
Yahoo has had the portal idea for awhile, with limited customization capability. I have mentioned before that with RSS taking off the ability to do this with useful information for ME is really just becoming available. With DSL/cable modem prices low (and possibly dropping) Yahoo's patience is finally paying off. I have yet to check out Google's offering for portals.
My only complaint about portals, at least on the early RSS feeds from Yahoo, is they do not always update correctly for random feeds. Maybe they fixed the problem with My Yahoo. If you cannot depend upon the portal providing the latest information from ALL sources then it is not useful.
